Holy Family flight to Egypt

DAY 1
- CAIRO
Upon arrival in
Cairo, Meet and Assist. Transfer to your hotel for overnight.
DAY 2 - CAIRO
After breakfast, drive to Old Cairo and visit the Hanging Church or El-
Muallaqa (said to have been built between the end of the 3rd and the
beginning of the 4th century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary), the Greek
Church of St. George, the Church of the Virgin (9th century), the Church of
St. Sergius (a typical example of the Coptic Churches and monasteries, it
was founded at the end of the 4th century and stands on a crypt that is said
to have sheltered the Holy Family during their flight from Egypt) and St.
Barbaras Church (built between the 4th and 5th centuries, it still has an
ancient chapel in which the relics of Saint John, to whom it was dedicated,
are preserved). Return to your hotel for overnight.
Day 3
ST. CATHERINE
After breakfast, drive
to the St. Catherine. Transfer to your hotel for overnight.
Day 4 ST. Catherine
Wake up in the early
morning to climb Moses Mountain. It was on this mountain that Moses received
the Ten Commandments. It lies south of St. Catherines Monastery and rises
to a height of 7,497 feet.
This hike is only for people who are very fit and experienced in hiking.
Descend for breakfast at the hotel. Visit the monastery of St. Catherine,
which sits at an altitude of 5,150 feet on the reputed site of the Burning
Bush. In the afternoon, return to Cairo for overnight.
DAY
5 - CAIRO
Drive to El Muqqatam hills and the Convent of Father Semaan. The convent is
built on the spot where Father Semaan regularly prayed to move the mountain.
The convent is built from stones of El Muqqatam and is quite famous for its
unique architecture. Continue to the Matariyah area in Cairo to see Marys
tree, so called because the Holy family is believed to have rested in its
shade. Return to your hotel for overnight.
Day 6
ALEXANDRIA
Drive to Alexandria. On your way, visit the Monastery of Wadi El Natroun,
where the Holy Family stopped after crossing the Rosetta branch of the Nile
to the western Delta. Heading south into Wadi El Natroun (then called Al
Asqeet) in the western desert, visit the Monastery of Al-Baramose (the
Romans), and the Monastery of Abu Makar. Next, drive to King Mariut to visit
the Monastery of St. Mena. Continue to Alexandria for overnight.
Day 7
CAIRO
After
breakfast, visit the church of St. Mark. The Church of St. Mark is built as
the pillar to the lord, at its borders. St. Mark initiated the spread of
Christianity in Egypt, beginning in Alexandria. On to visit the catacombs
and the Alexandria Library.
Drive back to Cairo for overnight.
Day 8
CAIRO
Drive to Giza to visit the Pyramids and the sphinx. Continue with a visit to
the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities. Among the fascinating exhibits, see the
treasures of the tomb of Tutankhamun. Return back to your hotel for
overnight.
Day 9
CAIRO

Transfer from
hotel to the airport for departure flight.

Day 02: A full day tour of the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx and the Egyptian Museum. O/N Cairo.
Day 03: A visit to Old Cairo where you will see the famous churches and synagogues including: The Hanging Church (El Muallaqa, Sitt Mariam, St Mary) which derives its name from its location on top of the southern tower gate of the old Babylon fortress with its nave suspended above the passage. O/N Cairo.
Day 04: Depart Cairo in the morning and on to st. Catherine. Also, pass through Rafadim, which is considered witnessing an entire chapter of the Old Testament, Exodus 17. Given such prominence in the Old Testament, it is no surprise that Rafadim poses plenty of ancient churches; some dating back to the 4th century AD. Proceed to St. Catherine for an overnight.
Day 05 : For those energetic pilgrims, depart the hotel in the very early morning to climb Mt. Moses to watch the sunrise. Upon visit St. Catherine monastery. And on to visit Jabal Baraka (the Mount of Blessings). This is thought to be one of the sites where Moses blessed his people. From here, there is an outstanding view of the whole of the Southern Sinai, and with the aid of a map, we can examine several alternate routes they took. Overnight in Nuweiba.
Day 06: Departure to Taba border by bus or by ferry to Aqaba, Jordan to continue the Exodus tour.

Day 04: After breakfast. Enjoy a short tour in Old Cairo churches such as St. Sergio, the hanging church and Ben Ezra synagogue. Transfer to Cairo airport for departure.
